How to Cut or Serve Different Cheeses

Cutting cheese is not just about looks, it is about making sure every bite has the right balance of flavor and texture.

For soft cheeses like brie or camembert, cut from the center outward like slices of pie. This ensures each piece gets some of that creamy center and the outer rind.

For round cheeses or wheels, avoid cutting straight across in large chunks. Instead, cut into smaller wedges to preserve the structure and give everyone a balanced bite.

Hard cheeses like parmesan or aged cheddar are often best broken into chunks using a knife tip. This creates natural, rustic pieces that highlight their texture.

For blue cheese, slice gently or crumble, depending on how you are serving it. These cheeses can be delicate and benefit from a lighter touch.

Serving matters just as much as cutting. Use separate knives for different cheeses to keep flavors clean, and always allow enough space so each cheese stands on its own.

A well-cut cheese board feels intentional, inviting, and easy to enjoy.
